The maker of good wine with his diploma in viticulture technology HF
Remo Meyer with flat cap - Young winemaker Switzerland Vineyard master Cellar master Operations manager Authorized signatory
Remo Meyer has his roots in the beautiful Bernese Oberland. The unique characteristics of the Republic and Canton of Valais, as well as the rich winemaking tradition, have long fascinated him. Therefore, in 2013, the trained winemaker relocated his home to the Alpine wine-growing region on the southern slopes of the Rhône Valley.
As part of the succession planning process for the winery founded in 1971 in Vallon Raspille, on the Valais language border, he seized the opportunity offered to him in 2022. As a qualified viticultural technician, he will continue the life's work of long-time owner Jürg Biber in the newly founded Cave Biber SA, serving as operations manager with power of attorney.
Remo Meyer's heart beats primarily for local grape varieties such as HEIDA (Savagnin Blanc), LAVENETSCH (Humagne X Completer), and CORNALIN (Rouge du Pays). However, his passion lies with Pinot Noir.
In 2023, he set out to convert the entire 8.5-hectare vineyard to organic farming. This decision reflects his deep connection with nature and his commitment to sustainability. Despite the challenges inherent in organic farming, he remains true to his high standards. As part of the expansion, he is also committed to new plantings and refinements. Creating exclusive wines is the cellar master's primary goal.
Special attention is being paid to the newly planted Lavenetsch grape variety. The resulting wine is expected to soon be the talk of the town, even rising to the status of Cave Biber SA's white exuberance.
